Core Values

The Southern Large Pack Beagle Association Youth Program is dedicated to preserving the future of Large Pack Beagling by inspiring youth through education, mentorship, sportsmanship, conservation, and hands-on participation. We strive to develop knowledgeable dog handlers, and confident young leaders who will carry forward the traditions, values and the integrity of our sport for generations to come.

The Six Pillars Of Our Youth Program

Safety First

Sportsmanship

Leadership

Every great beagler starts with safety.
Youth learn safe field etiquette, dog handling, first aid basics, and responsible outdoor practices while participating in Large Pack events.

Youth are encouraged to challenge themselves through competition while learning integrity, respect, teamwork, and good sportsmanship on and off the field.

Through mentorship and hands-on involvement, youth gain confidence, responsibility, and leadership skills that extend far beyond the field.

Conservation

Beagle Care

Family

We teach respect for wildlife, habitat conservation, ethical hunting, and responsible stewardship so future generations can enjoy the traditions of Large Pack Beagling.

Participants develop hands-on skills in caring for, conditioning, handling, and understanding rabbit hounds while building a lifelong bond with their dogs.

The SLPBA Youth Program brings families together by creating meaningful outdoor experiences, lasting friendships, and memories that span generations.

Mentors in the field

Our seasoned handlers walk alongside young competitors in the field, teaching them to read scent lines, coordinate pack casts, and understand hound behavior. This direct, side-by-side guidance ensures a century of classic field craft continues with absolute integrity.
