High Hound of the Year (HHOY)

About the HHOY Program:

The Southern Large Pack Beagle Association's High Hound of the Year (HHOY) program recognizes the outstanding performance of registered beagles competing in AKC licensed Large Pack field trials throughout the calendar year.

Points are awarded based on official SLPBA HHOY rules, encouraging consistent participation, sportsmanship, and excellence across all qualifying events. At the end of each season, the hounds with the highest point totals are recognized for their achievements and contributions to the sport.

The High Hound of the Year honors top beagles in the Southern Large Pack Beagle Association's annual competition.

Scoring Details

2026 Federation High Hound of The Year (HHOY) Rules

1. All Licensed Large Pack Trials hosted by clubs that belong to associations inside of the Large Pack Federation, or Licensed trials hosted by an association and the AKC National Large Pack Championship, will be the only trials that count toward the 2026 Federation High Hound.

2. Only dogs owned by members of clubs, that belong to one of the associations that are a part of the Large Pack Federation, will be counted towards the high hound awards.

3. Scoring for the High Hound Awards will be 5 points for 1st, 4 points for 2nd, 3 points for 3rd, 2 points for 4th and 1 point for 5th.

4. All results of Licensed large pack trials should be forwarded to the Federation tabulator, or be posted in an open forum (easy to find), within 72 hours after the completion of the trial.
